We believe that God has placed us here to connect people from many different backgrounds to Jesus. The stained glass light of our sanctuary beckons the city to come and enjoy the sanctuary of Jesus. The Immanuel Lutheran congregation was established in June of 1856. In 1857 the church purchased land on the corner of Michigan Street and Division Avenue in Grand Rapids to build a church. For 150 years, God's Word continues to be preached, His sacraments administered, and the cross of Christ held clearly before all who come here to worship Him in this location. We serve our present membership by strengthening members in Christian discipleship, the medical community by encouraging patients and their healers, the neighborhood community by welcoming people from the Belknap, Heritage Hill and Downtown areas and the campus communities by challenging the minds of young people.
